Please keep in mind that the prices above include only simple shield paint designs. For more detailed/complex design art, please see Complex Shield Paint Design Art in the Add On section below. All of our shields include:
Planked Wood (Pine) Construction (NOT Plywood)
3 Layer 100% Linen Face
Hand stitched Raw Hide Exterior
2 Color Custom Art (Hand Painted) Shield Face
Hand Sanded and Sealed Exposed Wood Surfaces (eg. Back of Shield)
Add-ons:
Add an Additional Color to the Artwork - $10 per color
Stained Shield Back (Dark Expresso or Natural) - $10
Complex Shield Paint Design Art - $50/hr.

Be Sure to include the shield size you've selected, colors you want in the artwork, description and/or images of the artwork you would like portrayed, and any other important information you'd like our Artisan to know.
We will contact you within 48 business hours of receiving your request to provide you a quote, discuss your order and make sure we have all the details.

We will communicate with you step-by-step as your custom shield is being fabricated, ensuring that you know exactly where we are in the process of creating your Custom Viking Shield!
Please Note:
***All Custom Orders are non-refundable***, However we will do everything we can to ensure you receive exactly what you're looking for!
***Our shields are all individually handmade and will vary slightly in appearance due to the natural wood grain pattern variations and our artistic vision of how the paint, linen, fasteners, rawhide edge, handle, braces and shield boss are integrated. Any imperfections are intentional and are meant to enhance the authentic look and feel of the product.***
Payment
We Require a non-refundable* 20% down payment to reserve the shield materials and get your custom shield started. All remaining balance is due immediately upon notice of completion of your custom order, and the completed shield will be shipped after final payment has cleared. If full payment is not received with-in 30 days of the notice of completion, the order will be considered abandoned and will be subject to the Order Abandonment Policy below.

"We do offer our customers the flexibility to either pay-in-full up front, pay as-you-go throughout the fabrication process or just pay the remaining balance once your order is complete! The payment flexibility options are entirely up to you!"
Order Abandonment Policy:
If, at any time, the customer chooses to abandon the fabrication or does not remit all remaining payment balance(s) due, with-in 30 days of the notice of completion, we, "The Red Artisan & Company", reserve the right to alter and/or sell the custom shield order to the public at any price we deem necessary to recoup any loss from abandonment.
Processing Time:
Please expect a 6-8 week minimum on processing, Our Custom Viking Shields are 100% handmade and take time to produce, paint, stitch and ship.
